Pan Xiaojun Inspects SGCC Representative Office in the Philippines and Visits Philippine Department of Energy and Energy Regulatory Commission

SGCC Head of Inspection Group Mr. Pan Xiaojun paid official calls to the Undersecretary of the Philippine Department of Energy (DOE), the Chairperson of the Philippine Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and the Chinese Ambassador to Philippine from June 21st to 22nd in Manila, the Philippines. He inspected the representative office of SGCC in the country, visited the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and conveyed greetings on behalf of SGCC to the staff working there.


When meeting with the Undersecretary of DOE Ms. Asirit and the Chairperson of ERC Ms. Ducut, Mr. Pan expressed his gratitude to DOE and ERC for their support to SGCC's investment in the Philippines and to the operation of NGCP. During the talks, Pan Xiaojun introduced the recent operating status of NGCP. He described that all indicators were improving steadily with enhanced management. He gave emphasis to the introduction of the achievement made by SGCC in UHV transmission, Smart Grid and renewable energy in recent years. Ms.Asirit highly appreciated the technological precedence and the advanced management notion of SGCC, acknowledged the significant role of NGCP in the safe and steady operation of the grid and the fight against the blackout caused by typhoons in the Philippines, and approved of the research of wind power, solar power and other renewable energy's connection into the grid. Ms. Ducut also fully recognized the significance of SGCC??s investment of transmission network in the Philippines and highly praised NGCP??s achievements in the fields ofengineering construction and grid operation. She stated that they would continue the communication with NGCP and support its development during the 3rd supervision period.

During his visit to the Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Mr. Liu Jianchao and Economic and Commercial Counselor Mr. Wu Zhengping, Mr. Pan Xiaojun introduced the progress of SGCC's investment in the Philippines and the operation status of NGCP. Ambassador Liu fully recognized the achievements made by SGCC in the Philippines. He held the opinion that the transmission network project was a successful example of Chinese SOEs' investments in that country. He pointed out that SGCC has established a favorable image and reputation in the Philippines, which has laid a solid foundation for further expanding programs in the future.

During his inspection of the representative office of SGCC, Pan Xiaojun watched the demonstration of the video-conferencing system and the OA operation, and listened to the work report of the representative office. Pan Xiaojun conveyed greetings from SGCC President Mr. Liu Zhenya, and fully acknowledged their work and achievements. Furthermore, he raised four requirements: first, they should further grasp the cultural difference in order to bring forth new management and control model based on reality, strengthen the corporation's operation management and establish the long-term stability; second, they should continue to be stronger and bigger, initiate new business, develop new projects and forge SGCC's brand image in the Philippines; third, they should keep on cultivating talents, building up its team and turn the representative office into a cultivation base of multi-discipline talents for overseas projects; fourth, they should improve the construction of the party branch and enrich the party's daily activities in order to provide better service to the staff.

During his stay in the Philippines, Pan Xiaojun paid a visit to NGCP. He had an informal discussion with the Filipino shareholders of NGCP in the headquarters. They exchanged opinions regarding shareholders' cooperation, operation, and technical exchanges. At the dispatching center, Pan Xiaojun inspected the operation status of the grid, listened to the report of the dispatching of Philippine power grid, the development of communication projects and the operation of the electricity market. Pan also visited the SAN JOSE 500KV Substation.

Relevant officers from the Economic and Legal Department, the Supervision Office, Department of International Cooperation and State Grid International Development (SGID) accompanied the visit.
